Your Weekly Forklift: Push versus Pull Motivation
Most people think motivation is something you either have or you don’t.
I don’t think that’s true.
I’ve met people with every advantage who have no energy at all, and I’ve met people carrying unbelievable burdens who wake up excited for another day.
The difference isn’t motivation…It’s vision.
We’re pulled through life by the future we believe is possible. When tomorrow is bigger than yesterday, it’s hard not to get out of bed. But when we spend our lives trying to protect what we’ve already built instead of creating what’s next, our energy slowly begins to disappear.
I think that’s true in business, in relationships, and in life.
Every entrepreneur (and each one of us is a creator, an artist, an entrepreneur ) has already made one incredible decision—they bet on themselves. They chose uncertainty over comfort because they believed they could create something that didn’t exist before. That belief is a gift. Don’t lose it simply because you’ve had a little success. Keep dreaming bigger. Keep creating.
The beautiful thing about motivation is that it spreads. Your family feels it. Your team feels it. Your clients feel it. People are naturally drawn to someone who’s genuinely excited about where they’re headed. Energy is contagious…and it has intertia, getting stronger and stronger as we are pulled towards our dreams.
If your energy has faded lately, maybe you don’t need a vacation. Maybe you don’t need another productivity hack. Maybe you just need a future that’s big enough to pull you toward it again.
Say goodbye to the snooze button, it is no way to live.
If the pull of your past is greater than the pull of your future, life will always be tiring. Motivation begins with a vision, a destination. Get that right and you’ll magically be pulled out of bed each morning…rather than pushed.
Make it a great week!
