This week from My Life Sherpa : The Heart

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).

Knowledge is important, but being able to use it is what matters.  We can have the roadmap to life, but if we can’t follow it, what good is it? (thats torment). Knowledge becomes useful when it makes its way into our subconscious. Into our hearts.

There’s the personal trainer who is 300 pounds overweight. Or, there is the financial advisor who can’t manage his own money.  Many of the worlds best philosophers were notorious sinners.  Knowledge without action is just Jeopardy.

The subconscious is what drives our behavior, it’s the hardware that’s operating within us.  Changing our beliefs, and our behaviors within the operating system is not easy. Our first thought is to look for worldly ways to help us, rather than godly/internal ones.  We look for software to put over the top of the hardware.

The mind gives us the roadmap, but the heart gives us the fuel and initiative to follow it.  What’s in your heart?
