This week from My Life Sherpa : 100%

We have to give it our best.

Every time we choose to do less than we could, or less than we should, we hurt our self-confidence.    It’s its subtlety that makes this so dangerous. We don’t even know we hurting ourselves. So, we continue to do less than our best. No pain, no change.  Shoot, in the moment,  it feels good to take a shortcut.  After all, thats exactly why we take them!  Instant pleasure in exchange for little pain later.

What seems like a little harmless decision in the present, comes with a cumulative effect.  Repeated every day, we soon find ourselves not just doing less each day, we find ourselves actually becoming less each day.  Having low self-confidence, or being insecure, is like being fat.  We don’t see ourselves getting fatter each day right? We just wake up one day and we are fat!

On the other side, every time we choose labor over rest, or action over chillin’, we develop an increasing sense of self-worth. As we give it our best, even if the results are not good, we grow. We feel happy.  Why? Because it really doesn’t matter what others know what we did, at the end of the day its what we know we did.  We have to do the work.  There’s no choice.  There is no other path to happiness, that I know of.

We cannot think ourselves into a new way of living. We must live ourselves into a new way of thinking.

Imagine how different our world would be if we made a commitment to put into action all that we currently are, wherever we currently are, and with whatever we currently have.  Not only does giving 100% help those around us, but more importantly it makes us grow closer towards the person we need to be.  It makes us more valuable in the marketplace.

Don’t get confused.  It’s not what we acquire throughout our lifetime that makes us more valuable. It is what we become in the process of acquiring these things, that makes us more valuable.

If we want more than we got, we need to become more than we are.

Go all out.  Always.
