Personal Development

The key to a better life is through a better you. Personal development is a lifelong journey.

My experience has been that compensation is highly correlated with personal development. Great people do great things. Sure, sometimes people get rich without the work, but it’s a short term inefficiency that is usually short lived.  Wealthy people are usually wealthy in character.

If you want to have an above average income, become a more than average person. It simple. Spending countless hours at the office and getting better at your job might get you rich, but it comes with a ceiling. Getting better yourself leads to a wealthier life. Your value will increase to the world and you become more marketable.

The truth is the world we live in is a giant marketplace.  It is a well functioning market as well, meaning we get compensated for the value each one of us brings to the table.  Constantly improving yourself as a human being can constantly improve your value.  View the world as MSCI Global Index and you are just a stock that trades on it. You are – You.inc.

What can you do this upcoming week to make You.inc… just little more valuable.

Your business will only be as good as you are personally.  If you want to change your life, you need to change yourself.

WEEKLY ACTION

What are you going to do in the next ninety days to make yourself better? What are you going to do to make yourself more valuable to the world?  Are you going to start and stick to a new morning yoga routine? Volunteer at your church?  Take some classes at the local junior college? Train for a marathon?  The options are unlimited.  Just write a list a things you could do to possibly increase your value in the marketplace and by week end, identify just one to put into action.
